MELBOURNE & BALLARAT SHOWS THIS WEEK
SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT MARCH 19, 2021
Ahead of their forthcoming debut album release and Australian east coast tour, rising Meanjin/Brisbane indie-folk-pop five-piece Full Power Happy Hour have today released the music video for their singe Old Mind of Mine. Having racked up kudos all around the world since its release in December 2020 – as has the equally country-learning single Steely Fences – Old Mind of Mine has been described as “sumptuous The Clean style jangle with added smoky, modern day Australiana” by South Africa’s Janglepophub and “a sublime sample of sun-dappled indie-pop” by Australian blog Weirdo Wasteland.
The music video for Old Mind of Mine captures Full Power Happy Hour’s recent escape to the country, showcasing precisely why the band are poised to put plenty of smiles on dials in 2021 as they bring their timeless tunes and Brisbane good-time camaraderie to the rest of Australia and beyond.
“We spent a day doing exactly what this track is about, getting out of the city and traipsing through nature on Turrbal land in Samford. Loop Growers were kind enough to let us frolic through their sunflower fields and veggie patch, and we treated some families to an impromptu concert as they were fishing on Lake Samsonvale. Okay, maybe they weren’t having as much fun as we were, but we really loved putting this together and hope you feel like you’ve had a bit of an escape watching it too.” ~ Full Power Happy Hour
The music video for Old Mind of Mine was produced, directed and edited by Marnie Vaughn of Bare Pictures, whose previous work includes clips for the likes of Jess Locke, Simo Soo and The Hard Aches. A Brisbane-based photographer, filmmaker and musician herself Marnie play in Lackadaisies, Married Man, HANNAHBAND and No Doz.
Guaranteed to evaporate even the most rusted-on pandemic malaise, Full Power Happy Hour are celebrating the launch of their self-titled debut album Full Power Happy Hour with launch shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Ballarat helped out by some well cool mates in the form of Girlatones, Apex Bloom, The Tropes, Meraki Minds, The Double Happiness and Camping.
Full Power Happy Hour is available on CD, vinyl and digitally through Coolin’ By Sound / Redeye on Friday 19 March, 2021.
